“We want to dedicate this award to him, to his memory, to his talent, to his sense of humor, to his joy.”
At the American Music Awards ceremony in Los Angeles last night, Linking Park won the award of Favorite Artist in the Alternative Rock category, and they dedicated the victory to their late vocalist Chester Bennington, who died of suicide on July 20th.
“First of all, thank you so much to all the fans here and around the world, who voted for the band, who’ve supported the band through thick and thin,” –Said Mike Shonda, co-founder of Linkin Park “Also thank you to the amazing Imagine Dragons and Twenty One Pilots guys. I got a chance to talk to those guys, to Tyler, to Dan, who said really wonderful things about Chester, and they were similar to the things that our fans said all around the world about him.”
Plenty of good words were rightfully said about Bennington, the world dearly misses him, and this sign of respect means a lot to everyone who cared about him, family, friends and fans alike.
“We want to dedicate this award to him, to his memory, to his talent, to his sense of humor, to his joy. And remember you guys, all of you tonight, whether you’re a fan or an artist, I want you guys to take a moment to appreciate what you’ve got, and make Chester proud.”
