No one expected this to happen!!
Eminem has just won Best Hip-Hop Act at the MTV EMAs, even though he hasn’t actually put out a new record for four years.
The rapper’s last album was 2013’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2, the follow-up to 2000’s super-smash The Marshall Mathers LP.
He’s been quiet for a while, with only his hard-hitting Donald Trump freestyle making significant waves of late.
He kicked off the performance from the Stanley Mitchell Revival Pub – giving a nod to his massive hit ‘Stan’ – before walking out onto the Wembley stage.
Eminem winning the gong later in the evening despite his absence from the shelves in recent years certainly raised some eyebrows, with the man himself expressing surprise.
“I’m not really sure how I got this ‘cos I haven’t had an album out for a few years,” he said in a moment of rare humility.
He thanked his fans and MTV, and also gave a shoutout to hip-hop legends Chuck D of Public Enemy and B-Real of Cypress Hill for all the inspiration.
Fans seemed as surprised as the man himself about his shock win:
eminem didn’t even drop the album yet and he’s already won the best hip-hop artist award !

Starting in late October, Eminem and Paul Rosenberg began teasing what fans speculated was the title of a new album titled Revival, in the form of advertisements for a fake medication of the same name. Later in November, the first single “Walk on Water” was released, which featured Beyoncé.
